BIOGRAPHY
Nik Fury, born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, brings a melodic and animated sound to hip-hop. Often satirical, Nik tackles a wide range of issues in his rhymes including religion, sincerity, upper class America, and even the Karate Kid; guitars (both acoustic and electric), various instruments sampled into loops, and the classic sound of drum pad beats blend the catchy audio of Nik Fury. Listeners of all ages seem to enjoy the music and also honesty within Nik's lyrics. Aside from Nik's sincere desire to approach his music from a real-life perspective, he never fails to let his playful and humorous attitude entertain the audience.
Nik’s 2006 project, The Downfall of Authenticity and Other Unforeseen Events, hits the music scene with undeniable confidence. Each track written and produced by Fury himself, The Downfall takes the listener on a lyrical journey through the very person of Nik Fury - both in humor and in seriousness. “Collapse”, a heavy club anthem with a simple message of perseverance, opens the album with a burst of traditional hip hop energy. More of Nik’s melodic songwriting presents itself with other tracks such as “The Simple Life”, “Glory” and “Don’t Grab My Guitar”-songs that are acoustically based.
Throughout the album, Nik Fury paints the portrait of a skeptical believer, trying his best to live a right life while not swallowing everything presented to him. “Over the years,” Nik explains, “I’ve learned that nobody has everything figured out. My Faith in God is something I’ll never give up, but I definitely weigh everything I’m told.” In one of his most honest Downfall songs, “Glory”, Nik laments about his struggles in this life and the hope of the afterlife: “...I’m still waiting for that life abundant because right now it’s life redundant, but I’m going to take what I can get for the times I’m feeling desperate. If I just hold on…” Nik Fury takes another real-life look into his faith with “Touch”, a heavier, guitar-driven track about the need to hear from God when it seems like no one is listening. Although skeptical, Nik Fury leaves no doubt about his continued perseverance.
Nik Fury’s comedic creativity comes to life in “Digits”, his self-proclaimed tribute to high school dances. “Let me see your digits [phone number], girl give me your digits, Friday night, you and me, don’t forget your school I.D.” Other fun songs on the album include “To the Left” and “Don’t Grab My Guitar” two songs with references to Chuck Norris and The Backstreet Boys, respectively.
The Downfall of Authenticity and Other Unforeseen Events, the follow up release to 2005’s Feet and Fists (EP), is truly an album delving deep into the core of Nik Fury. With over a decade of songwriting under his belt, this twenty-six year old presents his audience with a fresh, melodic and captivating hip hop record. “Whatever God has me doing, I want to do it without holding back who I am -and think The Downfall is exactly that.”
Nik Fury's second full-length album, Lights, Camera, Accident is due out November 3rd, 2007

“Nik Fury is one of the most effective young evangelists in our area. I'm not sure Nik thinks of himself as an evangelist, but his message and engagement of the audience leave no doubt in my mind. Watching him is a joy. To see him draw the young and the not so young toward the Lord demonstrates his calling and his response to the call.”
Scott Van Den Elzen, owner of Audio Idea (www.audioidea.org)
"Nik's style is like a mix between John Reuben and Paul Wright, and he writes blatantly real lyrics that stir up all it means to be a follower of Christ in our crazy culture."
Samuel Aaron, Music Reviewer, www.allalom.com
